Dr. Leland agrees with the recommendation of the American Association of Orthodontists, that children should be seen at seven years old. At this age, orthodontists can spot subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while some baby teeth are still present, which allows the orthodontist to effectively evaluate your orthodontic condition.

Your free initial consultation begins with an office tour. After this, X-rays and orthodontic photos will be taken.

Next, you will meet with our Treatment Coordinator, who will review Dr. Leland’s treatment plan in detail, including financial information, treatment length, and more. Dr. Leland will then come in to conduct a quick exam of your smile. He will also answer any questions you may have about your treatment.

The overall process takes 60 minutes. If the schedule allows, we would be happy to get your treatment started that same day!

Treatment times vary from three months to three years, depending on case severity. The average orthodontic treatment time is 18 months.

We will work with you to find the best option at your first exam based on Dr. Leland’s custom-tailored treatment plan. Please call with your insurance information before your first visit, so we can check on your insurance benefit before you come in for your exam.

Appointments are scheduled according to each patient’s needs. Most Invisalign patients will be seen every 10 weeks, and most braces patients every six weeks.

If there are specific situations that require more frequent monitoring, we will schedule appointments accordingly.

Absolutely. It is important to stay on a regular schedule for dental exams and cleanings while you’re in orthodontic treatment. All of this can be done while braces are on your teeth.

Extremely important. Our office will provide you with the tools and teach you how to use them to keep your teeth clean and healthy while in treatment.

Braces offer more spots for plaque to hide. If it is not cleaned properly, cavities and permanent white spots can form on teeth and damage can be done to gums and underlying bone.
